This book is very dense with many characters, timelines, and settings. It explores some very real themes and Roanhorse brings some really interesting characters to life. The themes that came together for me when reading were the duality of light and dark and the tension between two characters that represent this; the crow god and the sun priest. This duality was the inspiration for my design.
