Desert Dream
Relief Print
I designed this poster for a printmaking class and ended up entering it into the Student Juried Art Show at Fort Lewis College. It was chosen to be displayed in the gallery.
Living in southwest Colorado has given me more access to the desert, and everything about the landscape— stars, textures, animals, patterns, rivers—has been a huge source of inspiration for me. Designing this so that I could carve it into a wood block meant that utilizing positive and negative space was the key. I really enjoy mixing tactile fine art techniques with design.
This is one of eight relief prints that I did with this design with Gamblin ink on BFK Rives paper.
